Escort cosworth rebuild
Hi guys,
I need a opinion of experts.
The car needs a rebuild but after a little bit of research about the VIN number I found something that is not correct.
1ste The colour of the car is imperial blue and on the VIN it should be 42 mallard green. I cant find anywere some green in the car.
2nd The car is from 92 but the chasis has the fuel cap from the later version. Also found a second VIN plate with 909 motorsport on it. I think some of the former owners has build the escort and used the VIN number of a distroid escort.
3rd Before I bought the escort, the VIN number was used for a rally car. Mine is just a road car.
How can I best rebuild the car?
Here are my options but I can decide, can you give your opnion.
1. Colour mallard green en rebuild the shell like a 92 version.
2. Colour diamond white and keep the 909 motorsport shell.
3. Rebuild it back to a rally car but this could be very expensive and no more normal road use.
PS. I had better done the research before I bought the escort but when you are joung and you want something you dont think twice.

i wouldnt overly worry about it and build it how you would like it .it could have been reshelled at some point with the later shell and painted blue .just build it as you would like it
Build it to what you want. If you are a purist then it's not the shell for you. If you want to own an escort cosworth built to your spec and not as a money earner then just build it and don't worry about it.
Mine has similar history, I knew that when I bought it, not interested, its still an Escort, still 4wd, still has a Cosworth engine and more importantly its to a spec I want.
Its not an investment to me, its a play toy.
