Default Smelly RST

For a few weeks now, My RST is beginning to smell like oil and feul when im driving with boost.
The higher the boost, the more it stinks.
My car is running a little rich on feul, maybe this has got to do something with it, but never had this before.
Anybody know where to start looking, hope it has got nothing to do with the turbo, bought it 6 months back.

mine smells a bit

hope that dont mean something is on its way out

but it does whistle when boosting, that could be the gauge... leaking some of the small into the cabin...

ive been in cossies that have smelt like that aswell, mine smelt before i took out and rebuilt my engine and used the same turbo, and it still smelt, but like i say after i have had a new turbo on its been smelly of my new car scent magic tree....

So if u think about it the turbos are water cooled, perhaps some oil gets mixed up, i dont know anything about the inside of turbos,....just a thought!

yeah true

well me car doesnt smoke (yet)... so the turbo is alright

and stem seals havent gone (yet) either...

think its just the general smell of the hot air being blown in via the heater and matrix etc...

i dont mind it, i just associate the smell now with RS's etc...

and just say to passengers its an RS smell haha

a sign of high performance if you like

if u clean your boost hoses off from the top of intercooler to charge carrier .....over time if not cleaned it gets full of oil ...this is from the turbo....it gets through the seal and builds up in your pipes...so wehn u dump your getting the smell from inside coming out and then through your heater system. if its excessive oil build then i recommend a turbo service kit..around £70...happened to me and i just cleaned and put back together no smell

ps: if its not that then its possible its overfueling....rich mix?

how is it coming into the inside of the car tho ?

sucked into hot air blower from under bonnet or thru boost gauge vaccum pipe behind dash board ?

it was a secondhand turbo from a mate, stage 2, with a bit of play, and a bit of smoke on startup sometimes, i used it for about 6 months gradually getting worse, took engine out in october, put it back on the road in february with the turbo on it (ran outta money!),........smoking sometimes on overrun and boost..

had a setup and boost rise to 21 psi in march, lasted 2 days and smoke everywhere... p.t.s said it was totally fooked (lol) and couldnt get away with seals and bearings so they rebuilt the whole lot,for 535.
