Default Saph cos 4x4 CO too high

I’ve finally got my ten year stored cossie ready for an mot. It’s had refurbed injectors, new fuel pump and filter plus oil and filter. Thought I’d check the emissions on a Gunson tester before I put it in for a cambelt and MOT.

But, it’s showing CO2 of 11% at idle!

It’s running a stage 1 Ahmed Bayjoo chip and it’s a 1990 H plate. I think the max emissions should be 3.5 %.

Any suggestions why it could be so high? Cheers.

Do you mean CO or CO2 is 11%?

Exactly what tester and is it reliable ?

As you say Gunsons tester....the only one I recall them doing years ago actually measured CO2, and from that derived a guess at CO.

I wouldn't put too much faith in it. Have it tested on a proper machine.

Although at 11%CO, it would be reeking of fuel and hydrocarbons through the roof too.

Cheers. I’ll stick in for the mot and see what happens. It could be my machine is off.

sub 3.5% CO and sub 1200ppm HC should be a doddle to achieve on such a car.

The first few years of owning My cossie the mot tester/friend used to stick the probe up another car ha ha. Since mines been remapped the emissions have been spot on.
