Default anyone ever used them diy air con recharge kits for the car

are they any good, or should i not do it...just got a cheapo car with air con..woo, went to get it recharged at garage, said he cant do it cos there`s no pressure in and might be a leak...ok, came home checked everything over, found the tyre type valves in the pipes were not really tight, must of leaked out of there....

rang a local garage to ask about leak test, they said about 200 quid..car was only £360, so er no....

No but I’m guessing I had the results of one the other day lol. Daf CF in for air con inop. I pulled the gas out and it was over 400 grams over. Hence not working lol. Driver must have tried to self repair
Testing for a leak is easy how do they charge 200 quid lol. You just pressurise the system with nitrogen and watch it holds pressure lol

If empty, gas alone would cost more than that

Not really, we pay £13 per kg for R134a and most cars generally have around 600g of gas in them.

Its a honda civic 2002, proper cheapo i just got , bugs me when things don`t work on cars, so i`ve been fixing everything other people leave....door handle, dash bulbs, idle valve was seized so tick over was going to about 2k up and down, after watching more vids over weekend, its gonna need a vacuum to get the air out i think...

and place that quoted me £200 over the phone just emailed today, saying its £30 for a leak test..

Vaccing it out is part of any air con service. Any garage that dose an air con re gas and see’s there’s no gas in the system should be testing for leaks before putting gas back in. Find an independent air con guy who knows what he is doing lol. Makes you wonder if these 1/2hr turn around cheap quotes know what there doing lol

They do...they're making money.

Doesn't mean they're fixing the aircon right though
