Default 1.8ttdi mondeo timing

I have a 1996 onward 1.8tdi mondeo engine in a boat. I was unaware of the crank locking pin at the time of stripping and replacing cam belts. The crank moved slightly, now I’m unable to get the number 1 pot timed to tdc on piston so having a complete mare to get it to turn over by hand l, before cranking it. Please help

Easiest way is to remove the cam so that the valves are all closed then rotate bottom end

Been in your situation before with one of those engines I was turning the top and bottom end individually for ages trying to get it right.
