Default Ford Focus ecoboost 1.0 litre smoke from exhaust

Hi everyone.

New to Ford and newest car I’ve had. It’s 66 plate ecoboost 1.0 litre. I’ve noticed smoke constantly coming from exhaust when driving. Attached a video where this was it after a 40 min drive. Is this normal? I’ve had the car only few days and believe it’s not moved much since January, so perhaps that is playing a part. Appreciate any feedback as I’m checking everything out with it being within short warranty.

I have had my 2013 1.0 ecoboost Focus Estate for 18 months now and it never has any smoke from the exhaust if its a short or long drive. How many miles has it done? These engines should be good for up to 100k miles. It is not normal and if I were you I would take it back to the dealer and get it checked out under the warranty.

thanks it’s only done 29k miles. It’s more like steam than actual smoke but perhaps over thinking it. I’ll check when the weather gets warmer as I was putting it down to cold air.

On very cold winter days it is normal for steam to be coming out of the exhaust, this coming week the weather is supposed to be quite warm so use it and see if it still has steam coming out of the exhaust.I thought you meant actual smoke which would be something to worry about.

Thank you. Yes I think I confused you. It’s more steam like than actual smoke. It just looked really bad when I was in traffic and looked out my rear view mirror and could see it. The car hardly moved since January before I bought it so I’m putting it down to that as well I think. Good idea with the warmer weather I’ll check that out 👍🏻 Just think we’ve these cars the exhaust sticks out more so never noticed it on my other cars.
