Default Mk Indy kit car with dohc engine

Hi I recently got an mk Indy with the Ford 2.0l DOHC engine that I know nothing about other than been told it is a Sierra engine and I need to find out if it is 8 or 16v any ideas? And need to change cam cover gasket

I want to get more power from it but have been told I’m better off swapping it out for a Ford zetec st170 engine is there really nothing I can do to get more power out of the old irl

It's a DOHC 8 (EIGHT!) valve engine. Usually 120-125 bhp on standard setup.

They were never very tuneable back in the day.

So your advice on swapping it out would be right.

the scorpio 16 valve engine would be a reasonably straight swap as they use the same block, you can get them in 2.0 or 2.3. it's a heavy engine though, you'd be better off going for a zetec. you'd probably save somewhere in the region of 10-15kg i bet.

been told to look out for a st 170 zetec donor car and that they are a better engine to modify but how easy would it be to swap it out with the DOHC wording ecu etc any ideas
