`90 DOHC Ignition Problem
Hi,
I`ve read many posts on this Board and finally convinced myself to register. If there are any typos, please excuse me, im not a native speaker.
A couple weeks ago i bought a Ford Sierra 2.0 DOHC EFI model year 10.1990 Engine Code N9C for a pretty low price as a non-runner.
The probem is, that i get no spark whatsoever. I`ve changed the electronic ignition module to a new one, replaced the crankshaft position sensor to a new one, swapped the ecu to a known to be working used one and basically measured every single wire between the ecu and every relevant sensor to the system.
The ignition coil i bench tested and it works, but i also changed it to a working one for testing purposes, still no luck. For testing purposes i removed spark plug lead number 4 and mounted it directly to the ignition coil so i can "bypass" the distributor. If i ground the tip of the spark plug to the engine ground and crank the engine i get no spark. But if i take a jumper wire, put one side to battery negative and ground the negative terminal of the ignition coil i get spark, which tells me the problem either has to be the brand new ignition module or the ecu has a missing signal and wont give me a spark out signal.
Has anyone an idea what the problem could be? Sadly Sierras arent that common arround here so i cant just swap parts until i find the problem :/ Also the preowner of the car bypassed the fuel pump relais with a wired switch in the interior. The fuel pump is working if the switch is on the on position. I dont think this would be an impact to the ignition side of the engine but im not sure.
I`m not sure but the MAP Sensor looks kind of suspicious, but i dont think this could be a problem for the car not to put out spark. Any information on that would be great.
I appreciate all your helpful comments,
Mike
