hello, I'm from Brazil, and I'm trying to convert my 1994 xr3 Escort from fwd to rwd, but we don't have many manual awd cars around here. so I have the following options so far:
Subaru wrx kit, relativamente facil de achar no brasil e adaptar.
Audi s3 with haldex, i didn't like mt because from what i researched it is not awd all the time.
vw syncro, my favorite i think, we don't have it in brazil, only buying from abroad, but it fits my engine without adaptations, but i didn't understand the viscous coupling

is any other suggestion that transmission system I can use to convert from fwd to awd and support good power?

and my engine is a vw ap2000 (in europe it's ea113 i think), and this engine is original in this escort in brazil.

You all know these Escorts were also sold as AWD versions? And I'm not talking about the Cosworth.

 

Not in brazil, here the mk5 escort versions are all fwd and with vw engine.

 

Wrote a long spiel about whether you had any source material/links. All I saw was Xr3 in the title so automatically assumed mk3. Now re-reading and seeing 94, I'm assuming you just mean RS2k 4x4?

 

RS2k and 1.6 Zetec were sold as 4x4. But as these weren't sold in Brazil... after all these cars are hard to get nowadays.

 

If you are using a VW engine, then it makes sense to use VW running gear. Plenty use the Haldex for various things, so I don't see why it won't do whatever you need.
