Default Sapphire cosworth immobiliser

Hi.
Just bought a sapphire cosworth from a motor dealer, but it has only 1 ford immobiliser fob.
Ive been in to my local ford dealer, and they say these are no longer available.
My fob works fine, but I’m scared to death that it will pack up,or I will lose it.
Any ideas how I can get one and have it programmed please?
Many thanks

Get a modern immobiliser fitted and scrap the factory one. These days probably not much if a deterrent anyway

Thanks.
Would an alarm installer be able to disable the original ford one when fitting new system?

As said, you should really have a decent cat 1 alarm. I am actually surprised you are able to get insured without one.

As to the questions, it would be very hard I would imagine to find another remote that could be paired and yes, the old one should be removed/disabled if another is fitted.

I bought my Saff Cosworth 25 years ago and the original Ford immobiliser started playing up almost straight away. A modern immobiliser will be so much better and more secure. Nobody would be bothered that the original Ford one has been changed if you do sell it on in the future.
Tell us more about the Saff you have bought and post some photos.

Was that 4x4, or optional extra? My 2WD has nothing from the manufacturer.

Now you have said that maybe it was an early aftermarket one, the guy who put a new one in said it was a Ford one and they were crap.

It certainly looks in very good original condition. What are your plans for it? Keep it original or modify it? Take it to some of the shows if they are going to be on again this Summer.?

Default New cossy

It's as good as I could find.
I think it's completely standard, and I plan to keep it that way.
Before it was delivered it had a full top end rebuild at ford rs dealership ( valve stem rubbers tired).
New belts,tensioners,water pump etc.
New brake discs, and pads all round..
I asked for it to be completely clear waxoiled.
It was owned from new until 2014 by the family who had dealership.
It really is a lovely find, but I do appreciate it's almost a 31yr old car.

I think you have got yourself as good a standard Saff as is out there. Mine was waxoyled from nearly new and it works. I have gone down the opposite route with mine , a lot of modifications which still make it a very quick car.

Rust free thanks to waxoyle!

Bit different to standard, 450bhp makes it still a very rapid Saff!
