Thats interesting to know. Did you have to fully strip down the calipers or just hand them over complete?
I've actually just got myself a full set of the blue bmw brembos now. Picked them up a couple of days ago. They are pretty much brand new but do have a few scratches and chips on them. Toying with the idea of changing the colour to one of the other factory colours just to be a bit different. However, they do look nice in the blue!
Yeah you're right. I'm still undecided. Was just thinking the blue is very common (although still very nice), so maybe be a little different and go for one of the other colours that they came in. I like the orange but not sure if it will look a bit gay on my silver E91!
are they all standard option colours on bmws?
i fancy getting my brembo 6 pots and 4 pots redone on my merc, mine came in silver and are still in good condition but facelift model c63s with the factory performance pack upgrades usually come with red calipers.
i wasnt sure whether to go to the trouble of complete stripdown for powdercoating or just mask up and respray but i thought it would cost more than that to get them powdercoated so maybe ill go for that, itll be a much harder wearing option,
I think the blue is the standard colour. The others I believe were an 'm performance' upgrade at a considerable extra cost which was a bit bloody cheeky of bmw as all the calipers are identical.

At the moment the calipers are not even noticeable so I think the blue ones you have bought will give the wheels a nice lift and you have blue in the center caps as well.
Thats what I was talking about. All the calipers are identical. The only difference between the ones used for the 340mm discs and the ones used for the 370mm discs is the mounting points are a little further from the caliper on the 370 ones to accommodate the larger discs. The 'M' cars use exactly the same calipers as well. But if you wanted them in red, orange or gold that was called the 'M' performance option and was an option that cost considerably more than just having them blue. Yes you got slightly different discs (dimpled and slotted) along with the larger 370mm ones if you wanted, but the only difference in the calipers was the colour. Quite a nice little money spinner from bmw!

I guess BMW thought an extra Ł2k on top of the already high price of the new car was something that a lot of people who could afford it would'nt be bothered about!!
That makes a bit more sense but 2 grand for a 30mm bigger disc and red calipers a moneyspinner for bmw!
Not sure if Mercedes are an even worse rip off.... All discs and pads are the same size with 6 pots on the front and 4 pots on the back with the only difference to the performance pack upgrades is the discs are 2 part and normally red but part of a bigger 5 grand performance package of more power, uprated suspension and an LSD ...
Not sure about the orange.... I'd go either gold or leave them standard blue... I think reds and orange are a bit bright for a light silver car.
Well I've decided to stick with blue. Thinks its probably the best colour for my silver car. I do like the orange but just think it would be too much.
The calipers are in very good condition so just ordered some touch up paint to go over the small scratches.

I think you have done the right thing, with the very small marks touched in should look fine.
When I bought my 3 series it had Red M performance brakes, I asked why some were blue and some were red, I was told that blue was a tick box option of M performance - fitted at time of build in the factory but if you went back for an upgrade they were the same but in red, my one had them retro fitted at the dealership with the M performance ECU and intercooler so they were red...kind of makes sense.
