I'm hoping to use the ST ECU with my ST170 conversion
I have opened up the instrument cluster from the ST170 and see that the stepping motors are attached to the back of the dial faces and separate from the PCB.
Can anyone see a problem with hiding away the pcb and running wires to the remotely mounted clock faces? I'd have to take out the screen and run wires for that too.
Could I use the faces and motors from another Ford that have the faces visually separated like the later Focus and so I could cut them out and mount them separately in custom made pods into a traditional styled dash?
I'm thinking of keeping the Alarm system too if possible. How much of the extra equipment can I loose and not affect the ECU/Alarm function. ST170 Instrument PCB and backs of Stepping Motors
Cheers
P.S. Looking at other Ford Petrol Tacho's the sweep is much greater than the 180 degrees of the ST needle - I don't know how the motors work and what limits their movement.
