Default How hard are certain wheels to get these day.

Not long ago you could get these pretty easy and was usually a few sets at a time for sale , my RL7S have gone the same but I've spent nearly a month trying to find a set of old skool comp Mo5 in 16" 7j ET35. Are they actually a rare wheel now?

Certain wheels are a pita. I was surprised the other day to see brand new escort Cosworth alloys for sale, went and bought a set of four and then saw the price of the center caps which was a kick in the balls. Wheels was a good price compared to what I've seen them for for quite a while. Which I'd never sold my sapphire with them fitted.

Yea mate, seems people are either holding on to wheels these days or they are indeed rare , escort cosworth rarely come up and the centre caps are mental

When I remember how easily I destroyed a complete set of compo mos there's probably not many left rather than people stashing them away

It’s funny how the human mind works, using my alloys on my focus as an example, 20” BBS CHR’s, when they were available I heard a few people say they don’t suit the focus RS etc, now they are no longer available in FRS fitment everyone and their mother wants them lol

I think a lot of the classic alloys are going obsolete now unfortunately, good luck in your search Matt I’m sure a set will come up somewhere. When I got my CHR’s I only got four in hindsight I wish I’d got five. I’ve got the Jag space saver set up in the boot of my focus to get me home in case of a puncture, but I was lucky enough to secure a fifth CHR the other day off a fellow member so all good

Thanks mate and your totally right with how the people are with alloys , everyone hated the std rs turbo wheel at one time , now they are fetching good money and everyone wants them

Hopefully a set will come up for me.

I sold my 18" Comps from my 3 Door as I went back to 17" BBS style, then decided I wanted the same wheels back.
3 years later I saw a set crop up and grabbed them quick, not seen many sets for sale since, so glad I got them again

most comps mo5 and mo6 old type rims on ebay etc are always 4x100 pcd or 4x98 pcd or 5 stud the ford type are always harder to come by like.. it maybe due to there are alot of rally/track cars still going strong these days so there dont pop up often used

There's someone on ebay selling 3d printed one's for 210 for a set of 4. I paid 620 for a set of 4 wheels. My friend says if I get one he'd 3d print them.

I need to stop collecting wheels, i'm starting to get a few sets.

b6 s4 avus alloys
cosworth 16 inch alloys
17 inch hockenheims
19inch porsche rims

I’ve noticed this too and now regret selling many sets I had. I’ve started to stash them again recently though but need more space!

I have a set of old school 5 spoke OZ Racing Cronos alloys on my Saff and a few years ago wanted to get a matching spare wheel. There was none available in the UK but I was very lucky to find one in perfect condition on E-bay Germany which now gives me the complete set.

For me old school 5 spoke wheels suit a lowered Saff nicely.

The 16" wheels were available in 2 widths 6 and 6 1/2 " i think. Either that or 6 1/2 and 7", apparently the wider ones were/are rarer

I’ve actually got a set of those in the shed. I really like them and your car looks good on them

It was the 6 1/2 and 7 as far as I know. I saw someone selling the 7inch set on facebook yesterday.

I am after one (or more) old style Compomotive TH wheel in 16 8j ET25.
Maybe someone has it and would want to sell it to me?
Is it worth to ask Compomotive if they have any of these in stock?

It's mental how much some of these wheels are going for these days to be honest. Used wheels seem to be a lot more expensive than they used to be, even pretty low rent ones, let alone Comps and the like. Then you look at some of the old mag stuff from Group A Cossies, which can be up for £3000+, it's ludicrous.
