Hey all
my st170 has had top end rebuild after head gasket had gone .. everything is tourqe up and put back how it should and has been timed up
yet it's still making such a racket
Loud ticking noise with it shaking

Any help would be great

 

I know you say its been timed, but from that description if its only the head thats been touched, its timing...

 

I tried to upload video but it wont let me... I'll retime it again and go from there ...
it's also a pain to start takes a good 4 turns on the key

Thats mistimed or you've got a dead cylinder. Check all injectors are firing and all spark plugs are sparking. Compression check too if you've got the kit just to be sure.

 

What did the top end rebuild actually consist of? The failed head gasket - was it 100% just a failed HG or was that just an assumption on an earlier issue?

 

was a head gasket failure
it's had head skimmed , new valves springs and collets, stem valves
defo 100% water in cylinder 2 and 3
