Default Starter Motor shaft length problems!

3dr T5 gearbox.

Starter knackered - bought one off eBay - too short a throw. This one from Eurocarparts looked right but still too short and won't engage.

Anyone got a source for a decent priced one with the correct shaft length? Not interested in £300 race jobs.

Cheers.

Hi, i recently replaced the starter on my 2wd saph, mine has the standard T5 gearbox, im not sure if 3 door is same as the sapphire 2wd but i presume it will be so might be worth ckecking first.
The starter i bought was for a Ford Tourneo & Transit 1.8 tdci & tddi di 2002-2013 1.4kw
I got it off ebay for £50 outright purchase brand new 2yr warranty, fits perfectly, same bolt holes and connections, and has more torque.
cheers.
Also its a bit lighter and not quite as long as well.

That is a good tip for anyone looking to get a new starter motor for their 3door or Saff Cosworth. Very good price as well!

Thanks for the help folks. Unfortunately none of the off-the-shelf budget jobs seemed to fit. So I've robbed the internals out of a Bosch one and plugged it all into the alloy shell of the old one - fits perfectly.

It doesn't have great torque though - same as the old one. So in the future I'm going to have to get a high torque one and adapt that.
