Just thought id say Hi from the North East

After years of wanting i finally bought myself an RS Turbo early this year, a very clean diamond white 90 spec, over the moon to own it. No doubt i will be attempting to pick people brains on here in the future as i take it to bits and refresh, hope thats cool.

Hopefully find some information on meets/shows that are local and get out and see some motors.

Iv always had a thing for the 90 spec, i lusted after them as a teenager so to own one some 22 years later is quality!

Iv got some power issues with it at present, its just had a new oil pump fitted along with a rebuilt hybrid turbo. With the other supporting mods (cooler, -31, breathing and a chip) i was expecting 180-190bhp and it made 152 after tuning, a bit dissapointing. Im hoping to ask some questions to people in the know as to what could be wrong, im thinking timing.

were did you take it to be set up ?

 

It was set up in a place called Motoscope in northallerton, renowned in the area for building and tuning mk1/mk2 escort rally cars.

 

ah yeah ive heard about them in past never been etc but tbh it needs to be set up by someone who understands efi mfi rs turbo engines i dont think up here there is anyone local so to speak think there have all gone now.. if its in good health it should be more power tho around 170 area

 

I was gonna take it over to MSD but with how it was running prior i didnt fancy the journey haha.

It starts first crack, ticks over nice and seems to pull well enough but iv got nothing to compare it too as iv not driven another one before. Just cross referencing the net it seems down on power quite a bit. The turbo is a turbo technics stage 1 they are quoting 180bhp for it, i appreciate the car standard 30 years on wouldnt be the 132bhp they once were mind so maybe part of its down to age. It made 151.9bhp @ 5050rpm and 178.4lbs @ 3830rpm

what do these rev out too 65?

 

what boost is it running ?

i would say if you took it to someone who knows cvh engines etc you will get it sorted out correct aslong as its fueln correct etc i would of thought you could get 170/180 area..
