Default Racing seats with seatbelts (not harness)

After a bit of help if I may. My MK1 Escort has reclining Recaro aftermarket bucket seats. It also came with a cage and harnesses when I brought it. Down here in NZ there are quite tough regulations on having a road car with cage and harnesses and I'm trying to get it complied for road use. So I've removed the cage and harnesses and getting normal retractable seat belts installed. I'm also considering swapping out the Recaros for some nice new Sparco fibreglass buckets and wonder if people are running fixed shell buckets with seatbelts? Is there an issue with the height of the side supports or can the belts run through the harness ports? Any other things I should be wary of? The intention is to have the passenger seat on a runner to allow access to a back seat area for the odd times I'd need to.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
