Default FIESTA RS1800 upgrading the 1.8 zetec engine

Recently baught and restored a fiesta rs1800

It's currently standard but from a few upgrades of aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and it's running high lift cams

I'm wondering about what else I can do to squeeze more out of it without pushing the engine too far

I am pricing and going to get a custom exhaust built and fitted any other ideas of what I can do or what people have done would be great

Great looking car. I had mine resprayed 18 months ago and just love it. Fun little cars.

i haven’t looked at any upgrades to mine as I’m trying to keep it original.

As you're planning to turbocharge the (is it a real one?) RS1800 next winter, why do you want to bother tinkering around with the N/A engine for just a few months?

I had a budget built 1.8 zetec turbo in my MK2 fiesta after my frst cvh melted. Was planning a zvh but ended up going full ZT.
this was 20 years ago now, and all i will say is do it properly first time. Things have have come a long way since then.

Tbh I would look into a focus RS swap and keep the 1.8 original to go back in the car if you ever decide to sell it

Most of the standard 1,8 engines struggle to produce their claimed outpot of 130 hp. So with a manifold, chipping and perhaps a different throttle body you might get your original power back. Keep it as it is and concentrate on the turbo conversion.
