Default 2wd cosworth big wing sump

Anyone got dimensions to how big you can extend a 2wd sump without it fouling the starter motor ect? Mate is a fabricator and will do it for me and my engine is away at builders so can’t measure myself

2wd saph cos

Thanks

had some spare time this week so me and my mate cut some metal and he welded it together, over the moon with it holds nearly 4.5l compared to 3l of standard so a 5l oil bottle should do nicely.

Just waiting on two 8an weld on fittings to arrive for oil breather returns then check how flat the flange is possibly skim 2-3thou off

Looks great.

Did you have to bolt it to a plate to stop any warping from heat or is TIG more localised? I imagine the shape would be stong.

I REALLY need to buy a TIG and learn.

It actually hasn’t warped anything surprisingly as he didn’t weld it all in one and left time to cool between welds, the flange just has some defects from age so want to skim to try prevent leaks as I bloody hate oil leaks lol.

Yep same here.

Jesus, does a normal Cossie engine only hold 3L? 😳 that’s not a lot of oil, the VAG 1.8T boys had loads of issues with 3.5L but I’m guessing the Cossie servicing is much more regular, there certainly isn’t loads of oil sludge threads I’ve seen anyway.
