I can’t for for the life of me see how the driver wouldn’t have noticed. Ive driven many euro 6 dafs as I work on them. As soon as the collision camera picks something up that it sees as too close it dabs the brakes on and flashes a red warning light. The system would have been going nuts with a car basically resting on the camera lol. The lane departure warning would have been on as well as the camera in the windscreen would have probably noticed it too. If them systems had a fault and wasn’t working correctly then it still would of had the warning lights and been beeping away because there was a fault lol. Not to mention he would of heard it and should have seen it in the forward facing mirror

 

Its defo strange.
