Default Escort Cossie T51R

This is an Escort Cossie from Cyprus... Its a road/track car but this year will compete in some drag events in Cyprus and maybe Greece...

The pics are from its previous setup with a HKS T51R KAI and nitrous to spool up on Motec management. It runs 9s easily...

However this year they prepared a new engine with a HKS T51R SPL BB which was builg in the UK !!!!!!!!!! and they said that was dynoed at 1050 bhp without nitrous!!!!!! They used a lot of carbon to lighten the car and a sequential gearbox...

Does anybody know who built the engine ??? Any rumors?

Must be the most powerful YB in existence then mate, and possibly the quickest 1/4 for an Escort Cosworth!

Sounds awesome if its genuine! Any more on the spec at all?

Ditto!

C'mon more info!

Theres a few users on here in the drag scene, the guy who's Saph went on fire - Hauser Racing - might know about it.

what i remember is that he used to run the HKS T51R KAI, Motec M800 management, RS500 plenum, intercooler, twin fuel pumps, 2 litre bottom end with forged pistons and rods but standard crankshaft, a bog box and he only used the nitrous to spool up the turbo when taking off... his best with the above setup that i saw live was a 9.8/145 qrtr mile.

i m trying to get more info from cypriot friends for his current spec. As i said before the only thing i know for sure is that he's running the biggest HKS turbo (T51R SPL BB), a new sequential gearbox and they used carbon fiber extensively to reduce weight...

AGAR, Thats Danny with the Hauser Racing Saph mate

Kouzman, thats a mental time to run with a standard crank, but with the new sequential gearbox he should be in the low 9's.........skyline's run 9's easily with 800-900bhp and alot more weight than an Escort Cosworth!

Any vids mate, as looks and sounds like an awesome car!?

no video sorry...
however there was a presentation from a greek tuning magazine with the exact specs and a lot of pics with the T51R KAI setup. This weekend i ll try to scan the pages and post them.

ohhh, another piece of info is that the programmer of Motec tuned the engine himself....

when i have more info about the car i ll post them

Awesome car.

145mph Terminal is a lil bit low for a claimed 800bhp in its old spec on such a light car IMO

Its not got the turbo for just about 1000bhp@flywheel. Be interesting to see a dyno sheet or performance times.

You obv not seen many big turbos then! This turbos way bigger for example, and ive seen ones far far bigger on cars, 2500bhp rated turbos...

My turbo is infact physicly a bit bigger than a T51SPL

Yesterday the car was dynoed 831hp at the wheels with 2.3 bar (approx. 33.8psi) boost pressure, without the use of nitrous (it has a direct port system). Boost can go more than 2.5 bar (37psi)...

Surprised the bonnet even goes down with that Turbo on. Looks like something you'd find on a plane!

So the race finished!!!

The T51R escos due to some electric problems managed times between 9.5 and 10.1!!!! I think the team wasnt very happy as they expected lower times...

The other 300ZX engined Escos did a 9.2 with 255 kph trap speed!!!!!

Photos from the race and maybe video soon!!!!!

not a bad bit of footage. How annoying all them greekoids running in the way...

wouldnt mind seeing it in the flesh.......and surely they must be able to fabricater the back bumper to fit....or is it off for a reason.?

the rear bumper is missing intentionally. Excess weight and it doesn't mess the aerodynamics that much...

well, the footage is 100% amateur and dont forget that the event was help at an old airstrip, so setting up proper cams etc, its difficult...

i should say that on a proper strip, both cars would be in the high 8s. Front and rear wheel drive cars were spinning half the distance...
