I was in a mates workshop the other day seeing if he would buy my old gearbox and diff and he told me he had 2 brand new alloy blocks and 2 brand new heads. I said yeah yeah he took me up to his store room and showed me lol. So I guess there is stuff out there

Very interesting heads are cheaper than s&j blocks way more expensive

Great for a historic racer where money is not a problem.
nice bases for a big power build. Buying the new head and then sending it off for work to suit a big build is going to burn £5k easy.

Kinda struggling to see what Coord are offering for the extra £5k......

they're head a bit pricier though.

Presumably they're both S&J anyway ?
S&J and Coord heads are more sensibly priced though

I dont think they are s&j Steve thier current block is a revised version that addresses problems descoverd with the first block and features long studs through the main caps thier arent any in those burton pics
as said above ideal for a heritage car but for me it will be s&j purely for the r&d that's been already done

I'd want s and j I think if ever needed a new block, til I saw this I didn't realise anything else was being made, still must be plenty of demand out there for them
With fewer original blocks about, people making more power and willing to spend on the right bits, the alloy blocks make a lot of sense, plus the people want the lighter weight.
The only one negative about the S&J, is the relatively thin liners. It would be nice to see some top hat style liners that actually offer some iron on the top deck for sealing.
But other than that it is a great piece, and sensibly priced.
