Default MK2 fiesta gear lever doesn't self center

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I've bought a MK2 fiesta with a BC4 4 speed box. The gearstick doesn't self center any more which makes the shifting alot harder than you'd think.

Where are the springs that self center the lever? And are they serviceable. I can't find any information or parts online.

Thanks Andy

I can't think on a mk2 it's been so long but some early Fiestas had a simple spring from the gear shifter under the car going to the chassis.

If not they will have springs inside the shifter tower at base of stick .

No springs in the box under the shifter.

The centering action must come from the gearbox . Gear selector on the gearbox has still got a tiny amount of return to it. I guess I'll have to rebuild the box

5-speed had the springs for lever centering in the plastic box underneath the car.

4-speed had a spring on the selector rod
