Surely the engine would go straight in. No doubt you will need the ST keys and clocks for the engine to start.

Mk2 focus donor?
no expert but if going into a mk2 then id say it would be more cost effective starting from ST225 base and adding block mod, injectors, turbo etc.

I’ve got to think that starting with a standard st would be your best bet. They can be had very cheap, some basic repairs might be needed. The brakes and suspension would be capable of handling the power.
The only reason I can think of someone wanting to put the engine into a 1.6 car is that they can’t afford the insurance on a genuine ST. So they will be yet another uninsured driver on the road.
Save your money buy the car and insure it.

Putting a ST engine in a 1.6 mk2 focus would make a good sleeper. But it would be easier to buy a ST and remove the ST bumpers/bodykit.

But these days would it just not be easier to buy and mod a ST.

By the time you've bought all the upgraded parts for the car, it would be easier to buy an ST & mod that. Plus the insurance would be cheaper on an ST than a 1.6 with a 2.5T engine swap.
