Default Oil breather question

Hi just a quick one & probably a silly question but I’m new to all this....can an oil breather like the one shown below just be washed out. I.e can I literally run water through it under the tap?
Thanks

You can but it won't do much good, as water and oil don't tend to mix to well.
If you want to clean it out then use some sort of detergent that will break down the oil or brake cleaner will do the job.
