Default Strange headunit issue - Mk3 Mondeo

today I fit a new reverse light switch to our Mondeo. After connecting everything back up including battery reverse lights work. But headunit didn’t. Headunit is an old Kenwood double din so I assumed it had just packed in. Tried another headunit. Not working. Tried another not working.
Headunits power up and receive power fine but nothing works on them. Lights come on and then turns itself off after 3 seconds.

So upon getting hone home I removed the one out my Land Rover and fit it. Worked no problem. I then disconnected it and went to feed it all through the cage , did so and then it would turn on. FFS!

Plugged it it back into Land Rover and won’t work. FFS again!

Is it possible my mondeo is just killing headunits?

Item sounds like it's killing them. I know jump started my friends car with my old mk3 mondeo I used to have. A few days later the ford/sony head unit stopped working. It would light up but there would be no sound. I fitted another head unit and it was fine.

Does the car have parking sensors that pipe the sound through the speakers when in reverse? I wonder if there is something odd coming through on voltage. Is it popping the fuses on the back of the stereos?

I would get a multi meter on and see what voltage is on EVERY wire on the head unit, including earth etc.

I don't think the reverse sensors work through the car speakers.

I would be checking for live and earth feeds.
