Hi there, can anyone help me with a ford focus 1.6 tdci 2013 that a purchased two months ago which had a stripped timing belt of 40 teeth and then I find starter was burnt out as the starter started to smoke after I fitted the timing belt. It only turned with a couple of turns and then sounded like battery was going flat although it wasn’t, so replaced the starter motor and it’s the same issue starter is turning very slowly and not starting the car... battery fully charged up new belt new valves and have tried to tow start and still not starting?. Could it be anything to do with injectors being taken out when head was off and need reprogramming in?.
Did the engine turn over freely without the head on to check if any pistons or rods are damaged or bent?
hi focusv8, yes the engine turned over free smooth when head was taken off and I also fitted cam and carrier together to make sure the cam was turning free which it was. Soon as I try put back the timing to its marks as AD shows the engine locks up. If I retard the timing the engine will turn free but car chugs and doesn’t fire up like battery about to die. So basically timing has to be out but where are the marks meant to be From what auto data shows this should be the correct timing but it just doesn’t line up and I’m getting piston to valve lock on turning over by hand.
