A couple of weeks ago when I was driving my 2wd Saff the steering did'nt feel right, i have had mine for nearly 24 years and you get used to how it feels. I knew something was wrong and took it in to Richard at Tremona Garage. He soon found the problem was the 2 fixing bolts on a new steering rack I had fitted a while back had somehow come loose. Tightened them up and lock tighted them and the car was back to normal! Not saying this is your problem but its something I would never have thought of.Steering coupler could be worth checking as well.

I would advise that you do some checks, it could be something serious. If I had ignored the way my steering felt wrong I could have had a bad accident!!

Check the bush at the end of the column as well as the rubber coupling.

If the coupling is shot I believe the rubber from some landrovers can be used to repair it? Decent sierra ones are hard to find

When my steering coupling fell apart it was replaced with a new one with a poly bush, can't remember where i bought it may have been MSD?

I was looking at the mk6 transit Rubber coupling the other day while fixing rust and that also looks like it could be used!
