Default Are the new Ford Fiestas Rust Proof

About to buy a 2yr old fiesta tomorrow thats done 15k i was told that new ones are protected from rusting unlike the old cars back in the day is this true are they rust proofed a lot more now? or should i be wary and get it all underseal and protected as soon as i get it?

The metal is a bit more consistent and can handle a bit more UK weather than the older cars that were half the strength of a baked bean tin, but on the hole they are far from rustproof. Underseal/proper protection will still be a worthy investment

As above waxoyl the whole car inside and out all chassis sections.

Also grease / wax suspension bolts as being zinc plated they will corrode.

Even behind and wheel arch liners. Ever seen a mk 1 focus they rot behind the rear liners due to rubbing and porous liner material.

The way the arch lips are folded and sealed to the inner arch is a massive improvement compared to older cars that where just like a window ledge for shit and water

Of course it will rot, they are only really designed to last as long as the anti corrosion warranty, which I believe is 10 years, as long as you keep up with the relevant stamps in the book.

Were you not swayed away from a fiesta from your previous post about pcp?

My wife's old focus was rotton near the rear chassis legs where the seat belts bolt too. The rear inner arches were rotton. I was really surprised how bad it was.

I don't think these fiestas are that bad tbh..All cars rust it's just some are more protected than others.

I guess where they live plays a big part. Something that spends its life on the coast in the sea air will be worse than a car from the middle of London. We have just come back from a weekend on the coast in Devon, the car had a fine layer of salt all over it. The last thing a ford needs is a salt bath

My old mk7 fiesta was a 61 plate, I bought it at 5 years old and the back box had to be replaced as it was rotted through.

Unless you only use the car in Summer, coping with the salty shit which is used during bad Winter weather is the problem in this Country. Regular washing with a jet wash will help as will waxoyle type treatments but a rust proof car is a big ask!

I defo think her old focus lived near the sea. I didn't think it was as badly rotton as it was. Both rear inner arches, back of both rear sills.
