Default T5 gearbox upgrading

Ok
so looks like I’m getting a good 750bhp engine for my sapphire
my car is a road car but with this engine I think I’ll do the odd run at the Pod
ive got supra diff
6 deg beam
but now im thinking gearbox
can the T5 be upgraded to handle that power
I don’t want to go sequential for a road car
sny input VERY welcome
thanks

T5 will be no good there seems to be a lot more options for 4x4 these days. You would have to ask the makers of the elite box’s and things like that how much torque they can handle. Plus box’s like that do ruin the car as a road car. Tremec is probably your best fit and forget option

I have a cts big tooth in mine. When mine was on the road it had 500 ish bhp. I’m now going 680 ish and need to change the box as I’ll break it. But my new engine will make good torque and that’s what breaks stuff

With 750 odd hp if you have a relatively high rev limit you will still struggle with a big tooth box or any kind of synchro box if you want decent fast gearchanges.
You can fit a h-pattern box and it may be strong enough to handle the power but it will def hinder gear change capability.
Im kinda in the same boat but I already have a decent T5 box to use for now but in a few years of when/if my box let’s go I will be going sequential.
Why have a 750hp engine only for the transmission to hold it back...

Cheers Paul

yeah Paul totally agree what your saying
i don’t like sequential boxes on the road that’s what’s holding me back
But thinking it may be the only option I have

Is it going to be making 750hp in the car. What’s the rev band of the engine and what clutch is it using.

I get they aint everyones cup of tea, especially being so noisey for a road car.
Mine will predominantly be a road car to but the actual amount of miles I'll be doing in it and it just beeing a fun car to drive it wont bother me

Cheers Paul
