Evening all,

I've just had my gearbox rebuild and it's drives mint and selects gears perfect on the twisty stuff, however after a long straight run say like on motorway if I come off and to a stop I cannot select a gear.

I have to pretty much ram it through the dash to try select first & second is a pain as well. I had to pull away from a set of lights earlier in third! Then come out later it's fine again.

Has anybody had similar issues like this? as its doing my head in!

If a company rebuilt I I would take it back.

It sounds odd that fine from cold. If you are ramming it home you may bend the selector forks.

 

Try changing the oil to something else, give the guys who rebuilt it a ring and see what they recommend grade wise

I thought it was odd to, it's like its overheating something in there on a long run.



The've put in an ATF fluid that they were recommended to use. Spoken to Opie and they have advised me a different grade (75w90) so i shall try that and see if any better.

 

Atf is definitely the stuff for the 2wd t5 box

not sure about the 4x4 box, but I'm sure it's not atf?

 

 

it'll be the oil

the mt75 needs a very specific oil that is no longer listed by ford
try that first

 

Yes it turns out it was the oil grade, put in 75 / 90w and its spot on. Its now usable again!
