Breaking crank pulley bolt free on Zetec 2.0L
I need to do a timing belt change on my 2002 Maverick with the 2.0L Zetec. Haynes says that the crank pulley needs to be held with a chain wrench or similar when breaking the bolt free (to avoid damage due to the camshaft locking bar and timing pin), but I've seen a video on YT where someone uses an impact gun to whizz it off without holding the pulley.
I've got an impact gun, so do I actually need to hold the pulley still?

Don't have the crank pin or the cam locking plate in position. Whip the bolt out with the impact wrench then rotate the engine into position to engage the the timing gear.
The bottom pulley is keyed on a Zetec but the cams are not. You really do need a holding tool to tighten the cam pulley bolts or you will chip lumps out of the cams.
