Default Decat pipes....

Iirc they're an mot failure so they need to be replaceable for mot but is it worth doing for a power gain? I assume they're something that needs to be custom made and not an off the shelf kit?
Is demon tweets still good for custom intercooler or Where's a reasonable place these days? I'm not interested in top quality fabricators that take 12 months to sort you out though.....

Custom intercooler is a tough one, can you find something on Airtec site a bit like it? Maybe send a PM to Marc Kinsey (M K on here with the WRC Fiesta) as he made bits for me at home and is a welder at Airtec.

As poster above questions, if you de-cat it you need to consider a remap to take account of it (same really for the intercooler ideally) unless the car has enough allowance within closed loop.

Is this for the Merc? If so surely someone makes an upgrade cooler for it?

Yes, it's the 3 litre v6 diesel c class. Generally are the gains worth the hassle? It's already had a remap so it's around 280bhp but everything is standard within the engine. High flow injectors were also mentioned, possible all 3 options fitted then a remap should see decent gains again?

I expect the overall package of decat, big cooler and big injectors plus remap allows for the remap to be more effective (and safer)

It's just an infill until I've got the cash saved for my next car. I'm going for a 12 or 13 plate c63 in about 18 moths so I don't want to spend silly money on this. Is spending about a grand going to be worth the gains? That's probably just intercooler, exhaust and remap?

Not worth the hassle if you ask me.

I think you need to ask the person providing the map. It’s normally big torque gains on diesel as bhp is a multiple of torque x revs and they dont Rev that far.

you don't get a straight answer from those guys. all he says is ive already had the big gain from the original remap so anything else will be much less for more money
most have also said its not worth it.

I wonder if that is the limit of that tuner? I have seen a 3 series bmw diesel that was faster than my old V8 supercharged AmG

No he had big ideas but came with big bills, starting with 2 new canshafts. That's a bit further than I'd want to go. Diesel class winner at the dragstrip last weekend was a bmw 335 diesel doing 11 second quarters but that's silly money.
was it the e63 you had or did you add the supercharger to the c63? im looking at this sort of thing but not for another 18 months so I don't want to put to much of a dent in the savings fund for it by spending to much on my current old car....

Exactly this. The original remap will have given you the biggest gains. If you want any more, you're gonna have to spend big and the rewards will minimal. A remap after the addition of a decat and intercooler will be more to do with helping the engine deal with changes. I suspect you would only notice the difference with a bigger intercooler in this country on a extremely hot day when you're giving it the full beans.

If you're changing cars fairly soon, I wouldn't bother I don't think. Like Caddy says, save the money to put towards tyres for the AMG

I bought my AMG before the 63 was built, I had the E55 AMG which was just shy of 500bhp and a massive chunk of torque, 5.5 V8 with a supercharger. They could easily do 700bhp with a remap and a different pulley. Mine had the delimit and easily got to 180mph. They were rumoured to do 200. I remember in France when the auto box changed up to 5th at 155mph.
