Hi Guys,

I have an issue with my gear linkage cables in that one of them is a little bit snapped. I ordered some from a breakers which were from an ST170 but the mechanics that I'm using have just called to say that they're the wrong ones. I remember reading somewhere that there was a revision to them over the years the ST170 was available.

I've managed to source another set and wanted to check if the cables from a 2003 model would fit my 2002 model?

sounds like a dodgy mechanic tbh, as the linkage and gearbox in all st170s are the same, only the internal clutch differs = fact

 

Shit job to do, maybe they didn’t fancy it ?

 

+1 on dificulty i dont fancy it, tight to get them in the space provided.

 

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't think they're trying to avoid the job as they've said they'll the keep the car there until I get the right part.

Are they definitely the same connections on all model years as even Ford sell two types of gear linkage cables for the ST170? I just want to be doubly sure before I ring them and argue my point lol.

 

Quick update. I've just been up the garage and it was just because the connectors looked different that made them think they were the wrong ones. The ones I bought seem to be the revised versions. Hopefully they should be on by the end of the day.
