Been offered a mk5 escort van for free what do you know about them. Do they rust on the races like the standard escorts and how’s the sills floor pans etc.

I have it yet there is a problem it’s been sat on a drive for 5 years so will need new brakes probaly lines oil flush and whatever else but depends on rust.

It has been sat due to being a guys car who son died and he didn’t want to get rid due to him loving the van. I can have it as long as I put it back on road but is it worth it. I know it depends on underbody condition but how bad do they rust.

 

escort vans are well known for rot so a very close inspection is a must or it will simply be a money pit not even worth thinking about free or not, theres not a lot of value in them at moment even in good condition and maybe why they have offered it to you free

 

Well priced up what parts I would need without welding and that’s at 400 and that’s without anything being wrong electric wise and what not. So don’t think I’ll be going for it.
