Default Sapphire Carbon Firbe Roof

Hi Guys,

i know this this one has been done to death over the years! Carbon Delights don’t seem interested, but that was just from email, and I read other threads from the “search” that seem to say there not doing anything for the Ford boys now.

can anyone shed any light?

Are there any other options? People making them?
iv looked around the internet but drawn a blank.
even on a none sunroof panel or something I could cut out another car.
Starting to think it’s time to get a mould made!!

any input would be great folks.

Cheers 👍🏻

Perhaps I am old fashioned but why do you want a carbon fibre roof on a Sapphire Cosworth? Are you talking about removing the metal one and somehow replacing it with a carbon fibre one? Is it to save weight? I would say the reason no one currently makes one is because there is zero interest from anyone else.
Please enlighten us as to your reason for wanting to do this.

Evening Grandad

Its a Group A replica with a couple of twists, the carbon roof being one. Yes it’s about top weight. I cut the standard sunroof/ roof out when I welded my cage in and never got round to ordering a carbon roof. Now they seem hard to get. Just want it none sunroof/ Motorsport look.

i have no option now. I need one. Looks like I’m making one!

Makes a bit more sense now you have explained things, although I have never heard of one being fitted to a Saff. I imagine making a new carbon fibre one your self is not going to be easy. Maybe a fibre glass one would be easier to make or just get a non sunroof one from a standard Sierra?

I bolted a fibreglass panel in place of the sunroof I removed.
Saved about 15kg.

15kg from just a sunroof and mech in the top of a car....that’s a huge difference....

There's the glass part, mechanism and a huge metal panel in the rear part of the roof that the glass slides between when sunroof slides back.

That is well worth doing then, I imagine you would feel the difference on track....it certainly is weight from the best place possible.

I have messaged Carbon delight numerous times regarding parts for my saff, gave up in the end, either got a shitty answer or no reply at all.
I take it they just ain’t operating anymore or are just plain not interested.

A carbon roof would be awesome too

Cheers Paul

I will keep you posted on any progress in this thread Paul. If your interested and we can find a maker. We could maybe get a small production group buy on.
