Default advice on forged pistons

Hi guys

I'm doing a full rebuild on my engine

I need to get new set of pistons (rebore)

so it seems currently I can only get the wossner one (forged)

or the mahle / semi forged / like original so I need to get those pistons modified for high lift valve

appear of wossner ? today can I get an other set of pistons ?

best quality required

thanks for your help

What size over-bore do you require?

I believe CP Pistons to be of the best quality but maybe overkill depending on your power? Cosworth pistons are good aswell if they are still available, I run Accralites from burton power I think they are a copy of Cosworth pistons not sure.

I have Wossner pistons in mine. Apart from being a bit noisy when cold, they seem fine.

Depends on your budget. Start going for CP etc, then prices do start to climb quite rapidly

well I will say it's the first size "overbore"

accralite are only 7.5 compression ratio ?

where can you buy the CP Pistons ?

thanks

My son's had SuperTech pistons fitted into his forged Focus RS engine, they might be worth a look too

thanks guys (I do a request for CP pistons)

regarding lot's of posts it seems the mahle one are good for 500HP

I'm looking for 380 / 420 really maximum HP

is it true

or it's better to go on wossner or CP pistons when you rebuild the engine

you can get mahle with valve cut off too

I have had the Mahle pistons with valve cut outs in my low comp 450bhp 2wd Saff for a long time with no problems at all.

7:5:1 ratio will only be the case if your on standard head height, block height, head gasket thickness ect ect.

Standard mahles are good

Hi again guys

no mahle available in France so 2 choices:
brutonpower (available)
or Brands Hatch Performance
1- BHP could be good cause this company do the cut off but ... I don't know them and don't know if they are serious or not

2- burtonpower sells Accralite and Mahle and price is similar
it seems mahle brand is better than Accralite
correct ?

last question ... I start to calculated the compression ratio and I do not have the piston

what is the "standard" deck value for Mahle pistons ?

thanks

I wouldn't say Mahle's where better no, accralite are proper forged and manufactured to very high modern standards where as the mahles are old and high pressure cast, both good pistons though.

I have only used BHP for small purchases and haven't had any issues on them.

For me only use mahle or cp pistons. Up to 450hp mahle the best ones over that cp are the best.
