Well, haven't actually got the car yet, but have started getting some bits together, started with axle, going sort of old school...
Close up of calipers (fiesta I think)
4 linked with a panhard rod.
I'm thinking coilovers and turrets.
Got these at the weekend for the front end, RS hubs, discs and calipers.
I'm thinking that I'll use the standard set up front end to start with and see how it goes. Also will have to sort out a dummy shaft arrangement, probably using half shaft ends, to retain the hubs. That's more or less hw it works on my RWD transit.
Nope didn't see that one. Just the chassis on your pic above.
Have a look at an rx8 subframe.
Had a quick look and they seem to be thin on the ground at the moment, most on the bay don't come with diff or hubs. I have been trying to decide what to do with the gearbox, and RX8 6 speed is one I've been considering. Bloke on the RWD Zetec FB page does them with a adaptor and clutch conversion. If I went that route it would make the box/diff less complicated I suppose, but I want to keep it as straightforward as possible, which is why I went live axle.
Box wise, I do have a type 9 5 speed which needs a bellhousing, and a rebuild, so I could go that way, and that box is lighter, but the re-build would probably cost what I could get a converted RX8 for.
Yes Mate, I'm pleased and it was from Steve on here (1-PD) and I know I can trust him, and it was a good price.
Also looks like I've managed to secure the gearbox from the guy on the locost forum, which will save me a few bob
Just got to finish off my other project and get rid before I can get the car to put all the kit on to. My plan is to get either an MOT fail, or an engine blow up (preferably the latter), and work from there.........
Not much done as yet, but been collecting more bits, got the RX8 box that BW recommended for 100 sovs (should easy get that back when I flog my Type 9 )
Plus an adaptor plate from a lad on FB
Have this Wilwood slave kicking about with a 3/4 master cylinder, so I'll use that too
Just need to fix the cylinder in a suitable way, but I'll sort that out once I've bolted the box to the engine and worked out the movement required from the clutch fork.
I'm well pleased with the bonnet, just a lucky find on the bay of eees bloke hasn't taken it off the web yet, but I've got it There's another one on there for a Mk1 RS, but it's a lot more money.
Should be ready to make a start on the project by the end of Feb, can't wait
