Cortina P100 question
Hi all, new to the forum so hello everyone!
I have a mk3 Capri 2.0 that I was going to restore, but unfortunately the shell is too rotten to make it worthwhile. Rather than breaking it and selling off the parts, I was thinking about trying to use as much as possible in a new project.
I've always wanted a Cortina P100, and I've seen one for sale (1.6 crossflow) that's been imported from south Africa.
Now what I'm thinking of doing is taking the 2.0 pinto, gearbox and rear axle from the Capri and fitting to the P100. Has anybody already done this, and are there any issues that are going to make this overly difficult? The main one that is in my head is whether the Capri axle would be able to handle the additional weight. Is there anything else I'm missing here ?
Cheers
