Default 1992 Cosworth 4x4 - £16500 or offers

Well due to unforseen circumstances my Cossie up for sale. I bought this last year as a resto project after regretting selling my last 2wd. Probably going to regret selling this as well, but needs must.

Its been a hard one to price having been full restored as not many coming up for sale having this amount of work done. Its not concours, but its an excellent car and finished to a high standard.

88k miles
10 previous owners
All original owners manuals / handbooks. Receipts for all of the below.
Plenty of receipts from previous owner as well.

Heres a list of what its had, Pm me for further details.

Engine
200 block on 0.5+ Mahle Pistons
Standard Crank, never been ground
New King HD bearings
New GGR High pressure Oil Pump
Head rebuilt with new Guides and Seals
New 4x4 Waterpump
Reinz GRoup A Head Gasket
L8 MSD stage 3 setup with Closed Loop and Pectel Babyboard / Enabled chip
New Braided Engine Loom.
All new engine senors inc new Bosch Lambda Sensor
Mongoose system 4" tailpipe
New Alloy radiator, thermostat and Fan switch
New Alloy stand alone breather
New Genuine Ford Alternator
New Helix Organic Clutch kit

Running Gear
New Poly bushed rear end.
New SKF wheel bearings all round
New Pagid brake discs and pads all round.
Brake calipers stripped and rebuilt with kits from Bigg Red
New Handbrake cable
Rear driveshafts stripped and new boots and clips.
Front driveshafts stripped, new boots and inner CV joints
New Colins Engine Mounts, New standard gearbox mount.
Front and rear propshafts serviced and Balance by CPS Gateshead.
New Goodridge braided brake lines front and rear.

Suspension
Standard Ford Shocks
Apex -25mm Springs
New front arms and Powerflex ARB bushes.
New Strut Brace

the rest
Had full underside restoration on spit / jig.
NOT Rot or rust on this chassis.
New Fuel tank
15" Sharktooth alloys fully restored and fitted with New Falken tyres.
Factory Leather interior in very good order. No rips or damage.
New Genuine ford Mudflaps front and rear.

I'm asking £16,500.

I'm open to sensible genuine offers. Everyones got their thoughts on what they are worth, one things for certain prices are only going one way.

Stunning car shame you have to sell, I'm sure it will be gone in a hurry.

Thanks. yeah im gutted to be honest. i know i probably wont be able to afford another one when the prices jump again, but need to free up some cash for other things. might be interested in a cheap mk1 Focus RS or cheap 2wd cossie project in p/x.

Some might look at it and think its too pricey others who have done similar restos will know its cheap.

Tbh mate average ones are hovering about the 10-12k mark and you don't know what's lurking under the side skirts or above the rear beam so I suppose yours seems well priced in that respect. It would be hard to part with a restored one to get another to start again but hey if that's what your circumstances require then why not mate.

Yeah I've seen quite a lot of good looking cars on the outside be rotten underneath. I've owner 2 now and I done both like this, mainly for the the peace of mind that the shells are solid and protected.

Its go the standard gearbox mount mate, just has the little selector cradle bushes in poly. The shift is like night and day now. Before it was like stirring porridge feels like my old T5 box in my 2wd now.

Yeah ive put a year of work into it, but I need to free up some cash for the next year to help the wife start a new business venture.

Nice Saff you got there, imo priced correctly.

As above, there are some shitters about with demand 10k+ and this isn't one!

I've got VibraTec mounts on my gearbox/engine. Does make it a bit more vibration when driving but I like the feel of it. Feels like your driving something with power.

Good luck with your sale

Just yesterday, it was the rear wheel bearings you know, the brand new ones that were fitted that started to fall apart within miles must have been because the rear end is all new poly bushes, the noise has been travelling down the drivetrain. lesson to all, dont fit Contitech wheel bearings, there gash

What a lovely car and being black it's a rare one.

16.5 is a bargain compared to some of the overpriced junk that's out there at the minute

Yeah it's on pistonheads. I've had loads of phone calls but getting people out to view it seems the difficult bit. Not like the old days when you used to view a car and offer money there and then lol.

I thought so. But buyers seem to b looking at ones coming up for sale at 10-11k and thinking it's over priced lol. I don't think people appreciate the work that goes into these restos. Months stripping everything to the point where your sending stuff as small as caliper springs for plating. The cars not perfect but I think people are expecting to pick up a concours saff for 16k and under. Just not gonna happen. It's booked in at MSD this Monday for a full setup.

Can't believe this hasn't sold compared to the other crap thats for sale.
A similar magenta 4x4 sold recently for about what you are asking so I think it's priced right or if anything too cheap.
I know how hard and expensive it is to do what you have done and the rest of the car looks spot on.
If I was looking I'd def be looking at yours.
