Default S1 fuel relay

Hi guys. What would cause the fuel relay to get hot and the wiring to it? Or is this normal?
What's your thoughts
Cheers wayne

Old wiring builds resistance, so this would generate heat, as would a pump that was a bit "tight".

So you think it's more likely to be the pump rather than the relay it's self at fault pal? I hate wiring

No, Just old wiring. If you have some sandpaper, Sand down the contacts on the relay. Reach up and pull the relay mounting bracket and sand down the contacts inside the plug(you'd have to fold the paper over and use a small amount). Just work backwards from the relay cleaning down the metal and treat with wd40 spray.

The wiring to the pump is easy to get too. You can clean the ends at the pump, and depending on the connections you can re-do them with the eyelet connectors. Sand down or cut back to shiny metal, the other end of the wiring is under the seat, clean these ends on the plug too.

While you're at it you may aswell clean down the earth points, fuse box and anything that uses an electrical current(coil, fans, thermostat switch etc).

The other option is for you, To buy the autodynamix fuel pump loom. I've not bought it myself but its a worthy upgrade.
