Default 4x4 Cosworth Clutch cable

Fitted a new clutch cable approx. 2 years ago when doing my clutch as I had read it should be changed regularly due to heat damage etc. I believe I bought it from MSD (probably the wrong forum to write this on) but not 100% sure. (has blue sheathing on it ) It never really felt that smooth and also always engaged very close to the floor even after replacing adjuster quadrant. Anyway on way to work the other day cable snapped. As I didn't have another new one (I live in New Zealand) and needed to get car back on road, I refitted the original one I took off 2 years ago. This had been previously fitted for at least the 15 years I had owned the car, and may even have been the original for all I know. It is I believe the genuine ford item with sort of corrugated metal sheathing. The clutch now once again feels very smooth and nice to use and the take up point is now at a point much higher off the floor. Nothing else was changed or adjusted, - just fitted new cable. So my question is, as I now have to buy another new cable does anyone have opinions about the cables from different suppliers (burtons, MSD etc) and are the genuine items still available from ford. Have seen a few on EBAY that say they are OEM items and they are at least 3 times the price of the aftermarket ones. Thinking from my experience above perhaps it's worth paying the extra. Cheers David

Buy it from Ford. Still available.
I know people who have had no end of rouble with pattern items, that once replaced with a genuine one, their problems magically disappear

Thanks for the replies guys. A genuine ford one it is then. unfortunately quite a bit more than the 12 - 15 GBP for the copies. David

That is NOT the correct 4x4 cable!

This is the correct cable.
