Difference in value! Two identical cars side by side how much cheaper would the one with the dvla vin number compared to the one with the original tag.

I'm just about to start getting mine up to scratch by having a full re-spray, but wasn't sure if it would be financially worth doing? It's a solid car with all original rot free panels with a little bit of rust by the sunroof and in the engine bay in a couple of places, but the paint lets it down, it's sat for six yrs due to life situations and I'm now at the point to get it sorted and use the bloody thing.

Can't you just mask up where the orig tag is...wouldn't actually make any value diff to me but many others could walk away...my mate shows me RS1800s at shows and points out things that I still cannot see when he points at them....Ford fair last yr this bloke had a lovely rs2000 and my mate commented how nice it was, bloke mentioned that it had "never had paint", 10 mins later his lip was quivering after my mate showed him just how much of the car was non original. I think I will get him a muzzle.

To me I would not be happy if I was looking to buy a Saff or 3 door and the original vin tags were not on the car. As said just mask over when its sprayed.

SABTVRO is not a VIN tag its the start of the 17 digit chassis number system used by the DVLA when a cars original VIN has been removed. Also used for kit cars.

The car would not be classed as an original cosworth value wise if it had such a chassis number and devalue it back to the going rate for the sum of its parts essentially, which is the best way to value it.
