Been watching these a lot on you tube, looks awesome, thinking of going to a meet this year, does anyone on here go to any?

I went to one September 2015 and I'm on YouTube video leaving are the videos you've been watching posted up by MK1 Kieran? I think you are talking about the same videos and the meet is arranged and attended by the old skool Ford boys, they meet up at Rikers cafe at the foot of box hill, it is a great meet up and loads of old skool cool attend, a few of them love to pull off the rolling burnouts which don't take long to get the attention of the boys in blue as they patrol round there religiously and the old bill are always on the case of the bike boys n girls.

It is a good meet up but the old skool ford crew do like to keep it old skool, they always say classic fords only please when advertising the meet, I did turn up in my focus rs when I went but went on the old skool ford site and said please don't hate me lol put up a few pics of my 2.8i capri and they all said I need to get that down there I will go again in the summer

 

Where about is Boxhill? Looks like a good meet from what I've seen.

I've been to a few, they are good meets.
Usually gets very rammed.
Used to be pretty much just mk1 & 2 escorts but over the years all sorts of fords now attend, Cosworths of all sorts, escort RS turbos, even some foci,

The stretch of the A217 nicknamed The Mad Mile has been a focal point of illegal street racing since the mid-20th century. It is a straight length of dual carriageway which runs downhill from the Banstead crossroads with the A2022 to the roundabout with the B2230 near Belmont.[1]

The road's notoriety developed shortly after World War II due to the increasing affordability and popularity of motorbikes and cars. During the early 1980s, bikers illegally marked out "starting grids" at either end of the Mile on more than one occasion, which were later scrubbed out by the local authority; this activity restarted in the early 2000s among wayward modified car enthusiasts, whose races would often take place on Thursday nights. Information regarding races spread quickly through increasing use of the Internet and some participants and spectators travelled to races from as far away as Birmingham. Police presence gradually diffused this illegal activity, but it has not completely disappeared.[2] Measures to stop these races include barriers erected on the centre grass verge which runs the length of this stretch, where people used to park to watch illegal road use.

 

I know where the mad mile is buddy, i live about a mile down the road in Cheam, its only the stretch of the A217 between banstead and belmont.

Yes Paul I was mistaken I thought it was the bit of dual carriageway that runs from the roundabout up to Rykas as someone said to me once while we was up there that's the mad mile that's why I went into trusty old google and had a look

I would imagine it's littered with cameras these days?

 

No worries buddy.

The 'mad mile' doesn't have a single camera on it, although there is a few heading up towards Dorking.

It's the only 60mph stretch of that road the rest being the normal 40mph.

Not a lot of racing happens there anymore.

The hey days are long gone...

The duel carriageways by rykas in forking also have cameras and are usually littered with plod.
Think that's cos it's also very popular with bikers all round the Dorking area
