I have an oppliger close ratio box with Reyland high clamp cover and Reyland paddle clutch, I also have the Reyland hydraulic clutch conversion using the side arm push (not centre push)

This is in my 205 pug so I wonder if my pedal stroke ratio is different as even after a lot of bleeding I am still only getting the clutch to engage right at the bottom of the pedal and I think it may still be dragging a little as it is hard to get in to first and second.

The box had the oppliger quick shift and is on about 200 miles so may free up but I am thinking something needs adapting.

I will try re-bleeding the master instead of the slave and check the pedal is well adjusted, if not then I guess I need to think about changing the mater for smaller or larger?

 

I'm not Martin lol but what you probably have is a helix cover and a ap plate .
First of all check if the arm that connects from the peddle to the bulk head/master cylinder angle and also length of the rod to as it might not be getting enough throw as I and friend had to add 20mm to the rod to get it to bleed up right and get a 3/4 peddle bite hth Toby

 

Thanks Jay, I am thinking that would be the easiest and most likely solution. I have a play with it, that's the job for this weekend.

Thanks for that Jay. Surely if the rod is coming all the way out of the master then that would be right? I think I will buy the longer rod, just in case and see if that makes a difference. I guess the danger is that it is a little pre compressed as in already started the stroke when not being pressed that way you would lose some of the stroke?

 

I think its purely the rod isn't long enough to get enough throw tbh Toby !

I have ordered the rod to try it....really appreciate your help....can believe I am going to have to strip this out....again.

 

Thanks to Jay, I have now extended the throw on the clutch and the gearbox is lovely to use now, I think the clutch was dragging which was making it hard to put in 1st and reverse, now it is like a rifle bolt.

Fixing one problem at a time makes me realise how much development goes in to a production car.
