Hi people building zetec turbo. Anyone had trouble or no of any trouble with the coil packs. And is there anything else to use

 

Depends on power and what ecu your using.

The Black top coil fits the bracket but you will need new plug leads. It's used on the focus rs.

 

OK I'm going omex 600 and 350bhp. Been told the coil packs are crap and they fail never heard anything before so just checking.

 

Standard coil is fine for the majority of applications out there

 

Cheap nasty aftermarket ones arent great. Blacktop coilpacks have a FAR higher failure rate IMO. Think ive changed 3 silvertops in my time (one 20+yr OE, the others cheap eurocarpart specials), lost count of blacktop types replaced

 

OK thanks for advice. I've got new set of magnecor 8.5 leads. And just been told the zetec packs are crap and fail and should use coil on plug type. Maybe future modification see how standard ones go. Thanks for everyone's help.

 

I've replaced a couple of silvertop coils but not a Blacktop coil. You don't have to many options on an omex 600 other than wasted spark.

I would buy new genuine ford coil, plugs and leads and they should be fine.There is many an Rs running that.
