My mate just bought a new standard rear diff which was supposed to be for a RWD sapphire. The flanges on the new diff are different to the old one. We tried to change the flanges but they are different lengths

What could this diff be for?

Who can reconditon the old diff? (the sun and plant gears are fooked)
How much would it cost to be reconditioned and could it be uprated for some extra money? (the car in question is 400bhp)

Any answers greatly appreciated!

ur wasting ur time with standard diffs i blew 10 off them up before i got a quaife one which does away with the planet gears and that get a quaife and make sure u have a good crown wheel and pinon which ur need to get shot peened.

The diff you have could be ne thing prob not even a lsd could be a granda cosworth one or a 4x4 or even a pinto one

Spares are gold dust but it will keep blowing with that sort of power i use to nurse them big time just 1 launch and then bye bye and i was running around 400hp to

u could get the standard diff shot peened it will help a little but the planet gears are the week link

 

Thanks ever so much for your responses guys. He paid £500 for this brand new diff, which he will be returning very soon. From looking at that link you posted I guess the best option is to send him a message regarding my mates diff problem and see what the master comes up with!

500 thats 200 less than i paided for my brand new gripper diff! then it only cost me about 60 ish for the bearings seals and a new crush washer and nut!
