does anyone know if there are differences in 4x4 front crossmembers?
i bought a replacement (mint used) for my resto. Got it all fitted into the car today with engine etc. ive gone to fit the steering rack and the bottom moutn holes are not threaded so the original bolt just drops through as the hole is the same size as the top hole. doesnt look like it has been drilled. I was just going to fit longer bolts and put a nylock nut and washer underneath, but worried that the rack might move if they come slack.

yes thats right. typical of cossie part sellers these days. "its mint condition with no damage". FFs. the first one i bought was mint, but turned out to be smashed to fuck from a rogue driveshaft. now this one which has obviously been stripped and they just though fuck it I will drill it. You can see where its had a nut and washer underneath. Just worried that with the holes being bigger than the bolt ( and you cant put thicker bolt as the sleeve on rack would be too small), that the rack will move on cornering.

fighting me at every turn this cossie build.
