Default Help Please - Fuel Metering Unit

Afternoon Gents,

A bit of assistance required.

Tried starting the car (S2 RS) yesterday and it fired for about a second or two then died.

No matter how much I tried it just wouldn't start.

Checked spark....good
Checked fuel pump priming....good
Checked fuel pump runs constant when on...good
Checked fuel line out of fuel filter...pressurized on ignition/cranking.

So fuel is getting to the metering unit, but a visual and sniff check on the plugs suggest fuel is not getting to the plugs/injectors.

....WHERE DO I START WITH THIS ONE???...

Your experience/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

OJ

Are the any Fuses/Relays related SPECIFICALLY to the Metering unit (not the fuel pump as that seems ok) that I can check??

Yep...nothing

In fact, I read this thread over the weekend.

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-e...-jamsport.html

And it describes my problem exactly.

I've emailed Jamsport, but with the school holidays they've probably not seem the mail yet!

Just hoping it's something simple and I can sort it as getting the car anywhere will be a faff (non starter)

Cheers,

OJ

Not exactly, But to some extent yes. Have you touched any before you had this problem. As the engine will only run for a couple of seconds unless you hold the throttle open, If you remove or blow the Heated seat fuse. But unlikely that as you mention it wont start at all now.

Nope...haven't fiddled with anything (and the heated seat fuse is fine by the way)

Car wasn't started for around 3/4 weeks prior to this suddenly occurring one morning...

...That said, the car is only used around once a month anyway for the last few years and has always started first turn of the key.
