Default rs turbo intercooler

Hi

Ive got a s2 rsturbo which is running a 2.1zvh, with front mount intercooler, 2 cooling fans then the radiator.

In this set up the coolant runs very hot it goes past 110/120 degrees on the after market gauge in traffic.

Its running a 82degree thermostat and uprated switch, uprated / rebuilt radiator.

Im guessing my issue is down to the front mount intercooler blocking the air flow, so im tempted to put my standard intercooler back on and try it.

Does anyone know what boost the standard intercooler can take?

Or any ides how to low my temp

Cheers
Mark

What front mount do you have? You might just need a better one, a good fan and good fan controller.

If a front mount cooler is causing you overheating problems then your problem lies elsewhere. Old radiator, water pump, coolant mix, heater matrix etc.

Are you running twin fans on the old fan loom?

That might be the problem. If the wiring is old and creating resistance the volt draw will be too much and the fans won't spin as quickly so they won't be cooling properly.

This has a massive impact on the speed which the fans will operate. My fans kick on and off quickly but I remember disconnecting the alt belt to work on the car and running it up to temp and thinking the fans had been on ages without switching off and the battery had only lost half a volt running the fans but they just weren't cooling enough. Belt back on and started it up and the fans sounded like they were running at twice the speed immediately.

This is what you want.

Also you can fit over-rider switch/es to the fans too.

thats an expensive bit of wire,is it gold plated?
overide switches are not needed if your cooling system works well

your intercooler wont affect the cooling with the fans
are you sure the aftermarket temp guage is correct?

Dash temp shows up in the red and this is the second after market gauge.
Could it be the way its been set up? Wrong fueling etc?

Cheers

If it's running lean it will run hot. I'd still be checking the resistance of the fan loom.
